Religious groups stage demonstrations

LAHORE - Different Shia organisations and other religious parties held a rally at Faisal Chowk on Friday to protest against remarks of Dr Israr Ahmed aired on the QTV pertaining to Hazrat Ali (RA).

The protesters were holding placards and banners inscribed with writings against Dr Israr and QTV. Hundreds of participants continuously raised slogans against Dr Israr and QTV.

The speakers condemned Dr Israr for giving remarks against Hazrat Ali (RA) and demanded the government to take appropriate action. They said that Dr Israr had not only hurt the feelings of Muslims, he had also invited wrath of Allah by giving remarks against Hazrat Ali (RA).

Demo against killings in Parachinar, Hangu

The Jafferia Alliance Pakistan staged a protest demonstration on Wednesday outside the Karachi Press Club (KPC) against what they referred to as the ‘continued target killing of Shias in Parachinar and Hangu.’

They also recorded their protest against the derogatory remarks of Dr Israr Ahmed against Ahle-Bait (Prophet’s family members). The speakers demanded that the Sindh governor take immediate action against the elements responsible or else a countrywide protest would be launched against the desecrating remarks against Ahle Bait.

Speaking on the occasion, Maulana Mohammed Aun Naqvi said that the NWFP government had failed to control the law-and-order situation, adding that a conspiracy was being hatched to disintegrate the country. He strongly criticized Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman for remaining silent over the killing of Shias in Dera Ismail Khan.

He alleged that the local government was involved in the massacre of Shias in Hangu and Parachinar, ‘which have been handed over to Taliban while the Pakistan government has adopted callous attitude in this regard.’
